Barona Transforms Job Search with AI Recommendations

Barona reforms job search – AI recommendations to speed up employment
The work-life company Barona is revamping its job search service. The new digital job search platform, Barona Careers, utilizes artificial intelligence to simplify and expedite the job search and employment. The AI will also make recommendations to job seekers for positions in areas they may not have initially considered, but where their experience, skills, or competencies would make them a good fit.
The reform affects almost 9% of Finland’s working-age population. There are currently more than 300 000 jobseekers living in Finland on Barona’s register of jobseekers.
“We have been working on this renewal for over a year, and it is one of the biggest digital development projects in Barona’s history. With Barona Careers, we can introduce a whole new range of functionalities to help both our job seekers and recruiters. In the future, the job and the employer will find each other faster and more effortlessly,” says Venla Rapila, Head of Digital Customer Experience at Barona.
In Barona Careers, job seekers can apply for all Barona vacancies and receive tailored job recommendations based on their skills, work experience, and interests. The service’s artificial intelligence uses the information the jobseeker provides to provide personalised job opportunities that are suitable and appropriate for them. The Barona Careers service also provides job seekers with up-to-date information on working life, learning, and well-being, which helps them in their job search and career development.
Barona Careers accurately recommends jobs based on a person’s profile and can also suggest jobs in fields for which the job seeker has not applied.
“We want to be a long-term partner for job seekers, even if their first job application is unsuccessful. One way to do this is to help find jobs for job seekers that they didn’t think to apply for themselves. Last year, we employed more than 2,700 people in this way. With the system’s reform, we expect this number to grow even more,” says Rapila.
Similar functionalities have been previously used in Barona’s international recruitment on the BaronaNordic platform, and both job seekers and recruiters have had positive experiences. The future goal is to bring together all Barona’s training offerings and placements on the same platform, making it easier for job seekers to take new career steps through learning.
In 2024, more than 9,000 people found a job through Barona. Last year, the company helped more than 15,000 people develop their skills for the world of work.
Barona Careers will launch in May 2025.
