Barona Solves Both Acute And Long-term Recruitment Challenges For Digita

Digita had recruitment needs both urgently and in the long term. First, the company needed additional help for its pay-TV team as the workload began to accumulate. After that, mast and radio network specialists were needed in various locations, where recruitment can be challenging in certain areas.
Solutions
Through a staff leasing agreement, Barona found a customer service agent to provide urgent support for the pay-TV team. Thanks to Barona’s candidate marketing, an exceptionally high number of applications were received for the radio network specialist positions, and not a single vacancy has gone unfilled, even in challenging regions.

When extra hands are urgently and quickly needed, there isn’t necessarily time for lengthy recruitment processes. On top of that, in a rush situation the managers themselves are so busy that it can be hard to fit recruitment into their calendars.
That is why Digita, a provider of digital infrastructure and services, and Finland’s largest independent owner of telecommunications masts, decided to try working with Barona. The specialist needed for the pay-TV team was found swiftly through Barona’s networks.
– When the job went so well and so quickly and we got an excellent employee, we thought, why not try Barona for recruiting mast and radio network specialists too, says Digita’s HR Specialist Anu Matarma.
The experiment paid off: for example, a vacancy in a mast team travelling around Finland attracted a record-breaking total of over 200 applications.
– Not a single radio network or mast specialist position has gone unfilled, even in areas where recruitment has been known to be challenging, Matarma praises.

Digita owns and operates Finland’s leading national terrestrial television and radio network, acts as a pay-TV operator for the antenna network, and develops future broadcasting services. Barona has also succeeded in finding strong candidates in radio network and mast specialist searches that require highly specialised expertise.
Matarma particularly praises Barona’s help in reaching the right kind of candidates.

The radio network and mast specialists have been recruited directly to Digita on permanent employment contracts.
A good recruitment process, a better employer brand
The recruitment processes have been supported by a proactive consultant who, according to Matarma, has been in touch readily and kept both Digita and the candidates up to date on the situation.
– This is also how a strong employer brand is maintained — by actively keeping applicants informed about how things are progressing. The consultant is closely involved right through to the very end, she praises.
Training for managers has also been arranged in collaboration with Barona, to ensure they have a shared understanding of recruitments. Further projects are also in the pipeline.
– We will certainly continue the partnership. Barona has proven to be the right partner for exactly these kinds of roles, Matarma says.
Speed has also been beneficial from the perspective of current employees. When, for example, the person hired to replace a retiring radio network specialist gets to work alongside their predecessor, tacit knowledge and expertise can be passed on. Furthermore, when workloads grow, existing employees feel the strain if extra hands are not brought in quickly. With fast recruitments, the workload doesn’t have time to become excessive.
According to Matarma, all of the recruitments carried out together with Barona have been successful, which issomething that is also reflected in staff surveys.
– The surveys too indicate that we have the right people in the right roles and vice versa. That brings considerable long-term benefit.
